What to look for when you are hiring a flooring contractor

1. Is the contractor part of an organization to that pertains to his line of business. Being part of the National Hardwood Flooring Association has allot of benefits. All the info about wood flooring is at your fingertips.

2. Is the flooring contractor clean in appearance and present himself professionally? Having a professional appearance and a clean van says you will perform the same. If a flooring contractor is not well presentable, it probably means he/she will not work the same.

3. Your flooring contractor must be able to tell you what is a moisture meter, a roller, and a 6 ft to 10 ft straight edge. If you are dropping thousands on a wood floor, why would you cut corners on this one. If you don't read moisture properly, your wood floor can buckle. If your hardwood floor contractor does not use a roller during installation, than you are not getting 100 % glue to floor contact ratio it may only be 75% to 80%. If your contractor does not use a 6 to 10 ft straight edge for leveling the sub floor before the installation takes place, than your floor will have low and high spots. Think of a mirror, if a mirror is not 100% straight, or if it is broken, it will reflect light every other directions. This will cause the mirror not to shine. Your wood floor is the same. Only a straight sub floor will have that finish shine to it once completed.

There are three things you have to know before deciding on the type of flooring you want to install. Some types of flooring could jeopardize your sale of the house. Imagine spending a fortune on a floor and not being able to profit from it. Not knowing the truth about flooring and its value can really make a real difference.

1. Laminate floors, no matter how good they look or how much the material costs, it will not raise the value of your house.

2. Carpet and sheet vinyl or vinyl tile will not raise the value of the house. Even if its the $200 dollar a yard carpet. Carpet will not raise the value of your house.

3. The only materials known for a fact to raise the value of your house are tile and hardwood. Tile like ceramic, porcelain, travertine, stone tile. Wood floors will raise the value of your house as well.
